Postponement on the 2024 e-invoicing mandate
According to the tax proposals from Malaysia's Budget 2024, mandatory e-invoicing implementation has been delayed by 2 months. Due to this delay, the previous deadline of June 2024 has been moved to August 2024 for large taxpayers. Other taxpayers should comply with the e-invoicing requirements in phased implementation dates in 2025-26.
Following is the revised timeline for mandatory e-invoicing implementation, as proposed in the 2024 budget:
- 1 August 2024: Mandatory implementation for large taxpayers (annual turnover > RM 100 million);
- 1 January 2025: Mandatory implementation for taxpayers with an annual turnover or revenue between RM25m to RM100m;
- 1 July 2025: Mandatory implementation for all other taxpayers
- To be confirmed: B2C transactions.
