September 2026 Go-Live of E-invoicing and E-reporting Mandate Confirmed
Following numerous discussions and the dismissal of the proposed amendment by the French Senate suggesting a commencement date of July 1, 2025, a definitive timeline for mandatory e-invoicing and e-reporting has now been established.
According to the 2024 Finance Bill of France, the implementation of mandatory e-invoicing and e-reporting will proceed as follows:
- September 1, 2026: All businesses must receive e-invoices in the required format regardless of company size.
- September 1, 2026: Large and medium-sized businesses must issue e-invoices and report transactions in required formats electronically.
- September 1, 2027: Small businesses must issue e-invoices and report transactions in required formats electronically.
Note that a decree may extend the deadline by three months for each of the above phases.
Additionally, the French tax authority has published the v2.3 e-invoicing specifications in English, which can be downloaded here: B2B External Specifications | impots.gouv.fr.
